The Bladesmith Behind Doberman Forge

I’m Gabe Mabry—veteran bladesmith, former U.S. Marine, and classically trained chef. From my shop in Albemarle, North Carolina, I hand-forge every Doberman Forge knife to do one thing: perform for life.

How it started

A verse—“Iron sharpens iron”—sent me down a late-night rabbit hole of blacksmithing lore. Two years of study and one homemade forge later, I struck my first blade on my great-great-grandfather’s anvil—still the heart of my shop today.

Why it matters

  • Veteran-owned, USA-made. Each knife is forged, heat-treated, and ground solely by me.
  • Chef-driven design. After graduating Johnson & Wales and running my own restaurant, I know what a kitchen tool must feel like in real service.
  • Field-tested strength. Marine Corps grit shapes every EDC and hunting blade I create.
  • Lifetime purpose. I reject throw-away culture; every Doberman knife is built to be the heirloom your grandkids fight over.

The name

Doberman Forge honors our late family guard dog—elegant, loyal, and always ready. Those same traits are hammered into every blade that leaves my anvil.
